This premier big band is the United States Air Force’s pride and joy and has been since 1950. The great bandleader and musician, Glenn Miller’s sound remains central to the Airmen vibe — hot, swinging and oh so danceable — but the band’s directors over time have also incorporated contemporary and global influences to augment the band’s original intent. Comprised of 18 musicians from around the country, many of the Airmen are also accomplished music educators who are regularly invited to lead high school and college clinics for aspiring musicians. The band’s impressive discography stretches back to 1966 and — fun fact — in 1954, the Airmen of Note performed as the Glen Miller Band in the film The Glen Miller Story. The dance floor awaits you.
