Jazz-fusion keyboardist Lao Tizer’s musical influences are rooted in the music of the 60s and 70s his parents listened to, through the cultural and musical seismic shifts that transpired in the 80s and 90s. The Boulder, Colorado native was a teen prodigy and his career has now spanned a quarter century with nine albums to his credit. He surrounds himself with musicians of stupendous talent who create live sets that are filled with surprising covers he turns inside out, and improvisational passages that sweep the listener into luscious soundscapes. The Lao Tizer Quartet is a soulful outfit that delivers smooth jazz rich in melodicism, with a deep groove that sparkles with intersecting ideas, beautifully played. Joining Tizer onstage are Ric Fierabracci on bass, percussionist and saxophone Steve Nieves, and Gene Coye on drums.
