Ghost Funk Orchestra will be mind-blowing. The 10-piece band hails from New York and when music cognoscenti talk about the band’s sound, the word psychedelic comes up often. So does funk. The influences of Seth Applebaum’s brainchild come at the band from the worlds of psych-rock, salsa and funk, but it’s the band’s experimental approach to its music that leaves listeners agog. The power of 10 will be evident, but Ghost Funk Orchestra’s fresh take on anything that catches its fancy will make this the act people will talk about. We like their golden rules, especially these two: “Think positive and spread love,” and “Respect the art and culture, respect everybody.” Dig it.
