Hazel Miller is a Colorado treasure. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Hazel was making her way west to Los Angeles to further her career, when her moving van broke down in Denver. That was in 1984. She stayed put and has since electrified us all with her powerful and moving vocal style; one that is steeped in jazz, blues and gospel. It is the gospel iteration of the Hazel Miller Band that she is bringing to the Town Park Stage for this year’s Jazz Festival. Formed more than 20 years ago, the HMB is a rock solid outfit that brings fire and energy to every show.

Hazel is a beloved fixture in the Centennial State and is admired not only for her musical accomplishments, but also for her charitable work. Last year, she was chosen for the Invisible Disabilities Association’s Invisible No More Perseverance Award, an award that recognized her courage and strength in living with diabetes. The association lauded her willingness to use her star power to bring awareness to the disease. We are proud to bring her back to the mountains for an inspiring set of praise music and Sunday go-to-meeting joy.
